Lippitt O’Keefe’s very own attorney Ryan C. Plecha has been selected as an “Up and Coming Lawyer” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly for 2014! This prestigious award is given to young attorneys that “display the ambition, drive, determination, and accomplishments to set them apart among their peers.”
Ryan’s practice focuses on both civil litigation and complex commercial litigation. Based on Lippitt O’Keefe Gornbein’s boutique nature, most cases he works on are complex and novel.
Most recently, Ryan had and has the honor of representing the Detroit Retired City Employees Association (DRCEA) and the Retired Detroit Police and Fire Fighters Association (RDPFFA) in the Detroit Chapter 9 bankruptcy. Ryan’s representation was key in helping to achieve retiree settlements and the “Grand Bargain.” Through his advocacy, the DRCEA and the RDPFFA were able to reach more favorable resolutions than what was originally offered. Ryan joined the predecessor of Lippitt O’Keefe Gornbein in 2008 and has been with the firm since its founding. During his time at the firm, Ryan has already been involved in a variety of complex matters, including, the defense of two multimillion-dollar class-action suits (an antitrust action and shareholder oppression case); representing the selling company in a multimillion-dollar post stock purchase agreement closing dispute; and defending an automotive company in multimillion-dollar litigation involving suppliers. In addition, Ryan’s practice includes representing plaintiffs and defendants in class action cases and counseling clients in a variety of other civil and commercial litigation matters.
Ryan truly embodies the persona of an up-and-coming attorney. He is passionate, hard-working, and dedicated to his practice. We look forward to many great things for Ryan in the future.
